Asian stock market indexes ended lower on Wednesday, as a private survey showed that the service activity in  China expanded at its slowest pace in five months in June. The Sino-US tensions also dented sentiments in Asian markets. The US Secretary of Treasury Janet Yellen will visit China later in the week for healthy ties with Beijing.

In Japan, the Nikkei index declined for the second consecutive day, as investors continued to book profits after a recent rally.  Hang Seng fell the most in the region. Shanghai and  South Korea’s Kospi also ended in the red.

European markets are trading lower on Wednesday, as weak services activity data released in China and Eurozone hit the market sentiments. Investors are also cautious ahead of the minutes of FOMC’s last meeting scheduled to release later in the day.

The US future indexes, Dow and Nasdaq futures are trading lower at 5 pm IST, indicating a lower opening for the US market on Wednesday.

Conclusion

Indian stock markets opened flat on Wednesday in the absence of any cues from US markets, as Wall Street was closed on Tuesday. The domestic market sentiments were dented due to the slower growth of the service activity data from China and Japan.

However, some cautiousness was also seen in the markets ahead of the minutes of FOMC’s last meeting, which is due later in the day. Though the market trend is positive, traders should remain cautious and be ready for a healthy correction in the markets in the coming days.
