Indian Stock Market Indexes Today| Stocks to Buy- 12 Nov

 

Stock market indexes closed in the red amid weak global cues

 

Indian stock market indexes opened lower on Thursday amid negative cues from the global markets. The SGX Nifty was indicating a negative opening for the Indian markets in the morning. The Asian market indexes were trading downbeat in the morning following the negative cues from the US markets overnight, later most of the indexes turned positive in the end.

The US markets reacted negatively after data showed that inflation hit a three-decade high, the bond yield rose after the inflation data was released. The US CPI (MoM) for the month of October came at 0.9 percent as compared to 0.4 percent in the previous month, the estimation was 0.6 percent. 

The Indian stock market indexes, Sensex and Nifty opened lower by 61.12  points at 60291.70 levels and  49.75 points at 17967.45 levels respectively. The Bank Nifty also made a negative opening of 110.2 points at 38913.05 levels.

European markets opened higher on Thursday while most Asian indexes also turned positive in the afternoon session. The global markets digest the latest US inflation data which showed a faster than expected price rise. The Indian stock market indexes also tried to recover some losses ahead of the weekly expiry as some buying was witnessed only in the metal sector.

 

Indian stock market indexes at the close today

 

At the close, Nifty was down by 143.60 points or 0.80 percent and closed at 17873.60 while Sensex was declined by 433.13 points or 0.72 percent and finished at 59919.69 levels. The Bank Nifty spot price fell 463.60     points or 1.19 percent and ended at 38560.20 levels

The broader markets also declined in line with their larger peers. The Nifty midcap index was down by 262.30 points or 0.82 percent and closed at      31782.15 levels. The Nifty smallcap index fell 57.35 points or 0.51 percent and finished at 11145.60 levels

The top five gainers in the Nifty index were Titan, Hindalco, JSW Steel, M&M, and TCS. The top five losers in the Nifty index were SBI ONGC, Bajaj Finserve, TechM, SBI Life. The most active stocks in the Nifty index in terms of value were Tata Steel, Tata Motors, and LT. The most active stocks in terms of volume were Tata Motors, SBI, ONGC.

On a sectoral front, only Metals, and Consumer Durables sectors closed in the green. The sectors that dragged down the markets were Realty, PSU Bank, Pharma, Financial Services, Bank, and Auto.
