Market Live today 26 March: Indian stock markets are trading higher, Auto, FMCG, Metals are trading positive

 

Market live today 26 March: Indian stock markets made a gap-up opening today as indicated by the global peers. Nifty opened at 14506.30 levels, up by 181.4 points whereas Sensex made a gap-up opening of 529.13 points at 48969.25 levels. The Bank Nifty on the spot price opened at 33605.05 levels, up by 598.6 points from the previous close.

At 10 am IST, Sensex and Nifty are trading higher by 0.87 percent and 0.97 percent respectively while Bank Nifty on the spot price is trading 1.07 percent up.

Bajaj Finance, Tata Motors, and HUL are trading as the top gainers in the Nifty50 index whereas Power Grid, Reliance, and ONGC are trading as the top losers. Tata Motors, Reliance, and SBI are trading as the most active stocks in the Nifty50 index at this moment.

On a sectoral front, Automobiles, Financial, Metals, and FMCG sectors are trading as the top gainers whereas healthcare and Oil & Gas are trading marginally down at this time (10 am IST)

Asian markets are trading in the green today tracking the positive cues from Wall Street. Nikkei and Hang Seng are trading higher by 1.39 percent and 0.70 percent while Shanghai is trading 0.67 percent up. SGX Nifty is also trading 123 points up at this moment. The indication getting from the Asian markets is positive for the domestic markets today. Indian stock market is expected to open higher today.

Wall Street closed higher as Biden doubles vaccine targets and due to the resurgence of the economic picture in the United States. The US market indices Dow and S&P 500 gained 0.62 percent and 0.52 percent respectively while Nasdaq was up by 0.12 percent on Thursday.

The European markets closed mixed on Thursday amid concerns about the third wave of coronavirus infections and extend of lockdown in some European countries. The European market index CAC and DAX closed marginally higher by 0.09 percent and 0.08 percent respectively whereas FTSE fell 0.57 percent on Thursday.

Indian stock markets closed lower on Thursday amid high volatility on the F&O expiry day. Sensex and Nifty declined 1.51 percent and 1.54 percent respectively. FIIs were the sellers and DIIs were the buyers in the cash markets. FIIs sold Rs 3383.60 crores whereas DIIs bought Rs 2267.69 crores in the cash market segment on Thursday. Indian volatility index India VIX gained 1.08 percent and closed at 22.6975.

The US economy grew at an annual rate of 4.3 percent in the last three months of 2020 earlier it was estimated at 4.1 percent. It grew slightly faster than estimated earlier as recovery expectations for 2021 rise along with vaccinations.

The US weekly jobless claims fell from 781000 to 684000 last week. It is the first time that weekly applications for jobless claims have fallen below 700000 since mid-March last year as the report from Labor Department showed on Thursday.

China said on Thursday that it firmly opposes the Quad alliance consisting of the US, India, Australia, and Japan as it adheres to the cold war mentality. Indian China relations are at an all-time low due to trades and cross-border tensions. On the Quad alliance, China has asked Washington to refrain from making “troubles out of nothing” and do more to contribute to regional peace and stability.

India reported more than 50K coronavirus infections continuously for the second day on Thursday. Maharashtra recorded 35952 new coronavirus cases on Thursday. The three states Maharashtra, Punjab, and Kerala account for 74.32 percent of total coronavirus cases in India. Investors are worried about the rapid transmission of new coronavirus infections in India, particularly in these three states.

Indian stock market will have a holiday on Monday due to the Holi festival. Markets will open on Tuesday after a long weekend. Traders need to remain cautious and avoid carrying positions due to extended holidays.
