Indian Stock Market Live Today, 7 Jan- Sensex and Nifty are trading higher, Metals, Infra in focus

 

Market Live 7 Jan at 9.50 am: Indian stock markets opened a gap up today. The Nifty index opened at 14253.75 level, made a gap up opening of 107.5 points while Sensex opened at 48524.36 a gap up of 350.3 points. The Bank Nifty on the spot level made a positive opening of 331.9 points at 32129.80 level.

At, 9.50 am IST, the Sensex and Nifty index are trading higher by 0.59% and 0.62% respectively while Bank Nifty on the spot level is trading 0.80% up.

Tata Steel, Hindalco, and JSW Steel are trading as the top gainers in the Nifty index whereas Titan, TCS, and HUL are trading as the top losers. Tata Steel, Reliance, and HDFC Bank are trading as the most active stocks in the NSE at this time.

On a sectoral front, except for IT & Software, all sectors are trading higher at this moment. Metals, Infrastructure, and Automobile sectors are trading as top gainers at this moment.

 

Indian Stock Market may see a positive opening today

Asian markets are mostly trading in the green zone today. Nikkei is trading higher by 1.84% and Shanghai is trading flat, whereas Hang Seng is trading 0.45% down. The SGX Nifty is trading higher by 65 points today. As per the Asian markets cue, the Indian stock market may see a positive opening today.

The U.S markets closed mixed on Wednesday. Investors accumulate economically sensitive companies and sold out big technology stocks betting on a big boost in government spending under a Democratic-controlled Senate. The U.S markets index Dow and S&P500 gained 1.44% and 0.57% respectively while Nasdaq closed lower by 0.61% on 6 January.

European stock markets closed in the green on Wednesday. Investors have shown interest in banking and energy stocks and supported a Democratic win in pivotal U.S Senate elections in anticipation of a bigger fiscal stimulus. The European market indices FTSE gained 3.47% while CAC and DAX closed higher by 1.19% and 1.76% respectively on Wednesday.

Indian stock markets closed negative on Wednesday due to profit booking. Nifty and Sensex fell 0.37% and 0.54% respectively on 6 Jan. FIIs and DIIs both were sellers in the cash market. FIIs sold Rs 483.64 crores while DIIs sold Rs 380.41 crores in the cash market segments on Wednesday, 6 January.

News that may impact the Indian stock market live today

 

On Wednesday, Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmal Sitharaman chaired a review meeting on the progress of the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP). In the second review meeting by the FM, 24 projects worth Rs 80915 crore under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and 10 projects worth Rs 2,79,604 crore under the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation were discussed to infra spending and annual achievement and targeted expenditures by the ministries.

On 6 January the rating agency ICRA said slippage from the restructured book of non-banking finance companies (NBFCs) is estimated at 4-6% of their loans. This will keep the overall stressed assets of NBFCs elevated in FY22 after an increase of up to 200 bps in FY2021, as per ICRA
