Indian Stock Markets Weekly Updates (14- 18 Nov): Indian stock market indexes snapped their four-week winning streak and ended with minor losses after volatility seen across the globe. The market sentiments were downbeat due to the fresh geopolitical tension that arose after Russia strikes a missile at Poland.

The hawkish comments from the Fed official after stronger-than-expected US retail sales data also dampened the market sentiments at the end of the week. However, the downside was limited due to the decline in October month’s domestic CPI and WPI inflation numbers, which were released during the week.

The broader markets underperformed while the Bank Nifty index outperform the benchmark indices for the second consecutive week. Among the sectors, PSU Bank, IT, and Realty were the top gainers while Media, Auto, and FMCG sectors were the top losers during the week.

FIIs and DIIs both were net buyers in the Indian equity market cash segment. FIIs bought Rs 349.2 crore while DIIs bought Rs 2274.97 crore worth of shares during the week.

Weekly Indian Stock Market Indexes (14 -18 Nov)

On a weekly basis, the Indian equity benchmark indices closed slightly lower. Sensex fell 131.56 points or 0.21%, and closed at 61663.48, while the Nifty was down by 42.05 points or 0.23%, and ended at 18307.65 levels. The Bank Nifty index outperformed the benchmark indexes, closed higher by 300.4 points or 0.71 %, and finished at 42437.45 levels.

The broader markets underperformed the benchmarks this week. The Nifty midcap index closed lower by 465 points or 1.48 percent, and at 30916.7 levels. The Nifty small-cap index also fell by 91.75 points or 0.95 percent and ended at 9613.6 levels during the week.
