Live Market Watch: Markets erased early gains, Bank Nifty trading volatile

Live Market Watch: Markets erased most of its early gains, Auto, Banking & Financial stocks down

 

Live Market Watch at 11 AM: The benchmark indices erased most of its early gains as profit booking on Automobiles and Banking & Finance stocks are seen at higher levels. At 11 AM, Nifty and Sensex are trading higher at 0.35% each whereas Bank Nifty is trading volatile and currently down 100 points or 0.40 percent.

ONGC, Bharti Infratel, and Adani Ports are trading as top gainers in Nifty whereas IndusInd Bank, Eicher Motors, and JSW Steel are trading as top losers. ONGC is trading higher ahead of Q1FY21 results that will announce tomorrow. 

Reliance, IndusInd Bank, and Axis Bank are trading as the most active stock at this hour in the Nifty index.

Oil & Gas, IT & Software, and Infrastructure sectors are trading higher whereas Automobile, Capital Goods, and Consumer Durables sectors are trading in the red.

Indian Markets opened higher, Nifty trading above 11700 levels

 

Live Market Watch at 9.30 AM: Indian markets opened in the gap up today as expected. The Nifty opened at 11777.55 levels made a gap up opening of 129.95 points while Sensex opened at 39888.15 levels a positive opening of 420.84 points. The Bank Nifty also opened higher at 25038.80 levels and added 515 points while opening.

At 9.30 AM, the Nifty and Sensex are trading at 0.85% and 0.92% respectively while Bank Nifty is trading at 1.23%.

The pre-opening session indicates the markets will open above 1% Nifty may open near 11800 and Sensex is expected to open around 39,900

Live Market Watch NSE /BSE today: Asian markets are trading strong today as a Chinese official Service PMI increased to 55.2 in August from 54.2 in July a hopeful sign of reviving consumer demand. Japan’s industrial output data also shows signs of recovery. 

Nikkei and Hang Seng are trading at 1.95% and 1.29% respectively while Shanghai is up by 1.11%. The SGX Nifty is also indicating a gap up opening for the Indian markets. SGX Nifty is currently trading at 0.50% higher.

Last Friday, the US markets closed higher. The Nasdaq and S&P 500 gained 0.60% and 0.67% respectively while the Dow index was up by 0.57%. The European markets closed lower on last Friday, FTSE and DAX declined by 0.61% and 0.48% respectively while CAC was down by 0.26% on 28th August.

Back home in India, markets closed higher on Friday. The Nifty and Sensex gained 0.76% and 0.90% respectively. The FIIs were buyers and DIIs were the seller in the cash segment on Friday. FIIs bought Rs 1004.11cr whereas DIIs sold Rs 543.56 cr in the cash market on the last day of the week.

News that can influence the live market today

Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) showed that Japan’s industrial output grew 8.0% in July compared to the previous month. The data indicates that there is a gradual recovery in the industrial activity from the coronavirus pandemic but the retail sales fell again. 

China’s factory activity grew at a slower pace in August, the official manufacturing PMI fell slightly to 51in August from 51.1 in July as per the data from the National Bureau of Statistics.

The nonmanufacturing PMI index jumped to 55.2 in August compared with 54.2 in July and it is better than expected.

As per IMD data, India received the highest rainfall in the month of August in the last 44 years. The August month recorded 25% surplus rainfall in this season.

The Infrastructure output and GDP numbers for April-June are expected in the evening today. Traders would be cautious ahead of the data as the GDP is expected to contract into double-digit.
