Market Live: Sensex & Nifty are in Red, Tracking Market Performance Amidst Volatility

 

Market Live Today, 22 Feb 2024: Indian stock market indexes opened higher on Thursday as indicated by the Gift Nifty in the morning. The other Asian stock markets are mostly trading higher, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 gaining the most in the region, hitting a record high and surpassing the 1989 high due to solid corporate earnings and weaker yen.

Nifty today opened marginally higher at 22081.55, up by 26.5 points, while the Sensex also made a positive opening of 54.41 points at 72677.51 levels. The Bank Nifty index opened slightly lower by 85.15 points at 46934.55 levels.

Indian stock markets are trading volatile. The Nifty 50 index is trading lower by 123 points or 0.58 percent and at 21928 levels while the Sensex is down by 398 points or 0.54 percent and at 72229 levels. The Bank Nifty index is trading lower by 382 points or 0.81 percent on the spot level and at 46635 levels.

The broader markets are also trading lower today, as the Nifty midcap index is down by 125.26 points or 0.25 percent and at 48512 levels. The Nifty smallcap index is trading lower by 11 points or 0.09 percent at 15992 levels.

 

Indian Stock Market Updates Today

 

Among the sectors, barring Metal and IT, all sectoral indices are trading in the red. The sectors that are dragging down the markets are PSU Bank, Energy, and Financial Services.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are Axis Bank, Eicher Motors, Hindalco, HCLTech, and Tata Steel and the top losing stocks are BPCL, Bharti Airtel, Dr. Reddy, Asian Paints, and Hero Motors.

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, and Reliance, and in terms of volume are Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, and Power Grid.
