Market Live: Sensex, Nifty trading flat, PSU Bank, Metals shines

Market Live at 12.30: Indian stock market indexes opened higher on Friday following positive cues from global markets. Nifty today opened higher at 18259.10 levels, up by 68.1 points while Sensex made a gap-up opening of 195.28 points at 61329.16 levels. Indian markets are trading comfortably above their neutral lines on the last day of the year 2022.

The domestic markets followed the positive global cues, as the latest jobless claim data in the US raised hope for possible slow growth in wages and a less aggressive Federal Reserve. Other than the positive global cues traders took encouragement, as Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das said the Indian economy is resilient with financial stability maintained with a well-capitalized banking sector, amid global uncertainties and shocks.

However, the upside remained capped as traders turned cautious after the data released by the Reserve Bank showed that the country`s current account deficit widened to 4.4 percent of the GDP in the quarter that ended September, from 2.2 percent GDP during the April-June period, due to higher trade gap. Some concerns also came in the markets, as FIIs are continuously selling in the equity cash segment in Indian markets.
