Market LIVE Today, 11 March: Sensex and Nifty Turn Red After Early Upswing

Indian Stock Market Live Updates Today, 11 March 2024: Indian stock market indexes opened marginally higher on Monday, as indicated by the Gift Nifty in the morning. The Nifty today opened slightly higher at 22517.50, up by 23.95 points, while the Sensex also made a positive opening of 56.54 points at 74175.93 levels. The Bank Nifty index also opened lower by 43.6 points at 47792.20 levels.

The other major Asian stock market indexes are trading mostly in the red at 9.35 am IST. Japan’s Nikkei is down more than 2.5% on the speculation that the Bank of Japan will hike interest rates, which will boost the local currency and hit exporter’s sentiments. Meanwhile, Hang Seng is gaining the most in the region, up 1.34%.

Indian stock market indexes erased all early gains and are trading marginally lower. The Nifty 50 index trades slightly lower by 22 points or 0.09 percent and at 22472 levels while the Sensex is down by 106 points or 0.14 percent and at 74012 levels. The Bank Nifty index is trading lower by 167 points or 0.35 percent on the spot levels and at 47663 levels.

The broader markets are trading mixed today, as the Nifty midcap index is up by 85 points or 0.18 percent and at 49058 levels. The Nifty smallcap index trades lower by 87 points or 0.56 percent at 15621 levels.

Among the sectors, Realty, Pharma, and PSU Bank are gaining the most, while Media, Auto, and Banking stocks are declining.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are Cipla, SBI Life, Ultratech Cement, Bajaj Finserve, and Hindalco and the top losing stocks are Tata Consumer, Bajaj Auto, Tata Steel, Kotak Bank, and Tata Motors.

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are HDFC Bank, Reliance, and Tata Steel, and in terms of volume are Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, and Power Grid.
