Market LIVE Today: Sensex, Nifty Dip, Mid and Small-Cap Stocks Under Pressure

Indian Stock Market Live Today, 12 Feb 2024: Indian equity benchmarks opened opened marginally higher on Monday as indicated by the Gift Nifty. On the global front, the major Asian markets including Shanghai, Hang Seng, Kospi, Straits Times, and Taiwan closed today on account of the Lunar New Year holiday. Japan’s Nikkei is trading marginally higher, while Australia’s S&P ASX is slightly down at this moment.

Nifty today opened slightly higher at 21800.80, up by 18.3 points, while the Sensex made a higher opening of 126.82 points at 71722.31 levels. The Bank Nifty index also opened edged higher by 29.75 points at 45664.30 levels.

Indian stock market indexes erased all early gains and are trading sharply lower in the morning deal. The Nifty 50 index is trading lower by 86 points or 0.42 percent and at 21697 levels while the Sensex is down by 270 points or 0.37 percent and at 71336 levels. The Bank Nifty index is trading lower by 243 points or 0.53 percent on the spot level and at 45387 levels.

The broader markets are trading lower today, as the Nifty midcap index is down by 554.75 points or 1.15 percent and at 48351 levels. The Nifty smallcap index is trading lower by 342 points or 2.13 percent at 15925 levels.

 

Stock Market Updates Today

 

Among the sectors, barring Pharma and IT all sectoral indices are trading in the red. The sectors that are declining the most are  PSU Bank, Energy, and Realty.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are Divis Lab, Wipro, Apollo Hospitals, Dr. Reddy, and HCL Tech and the top losing stocks are Coal India, H.ero Motors, ONGC, BPCL, and Power Grid.

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are SBI, HDFC Bank, and Wipro, and in terms of volume are ONGC, SBI, and Tata Steel.
