News on markets today: Sensex, Nifty trading lower due to negative global market cues

 

It was a negative start for the Indian markets today. The Nifty opened at 11917.40 levels slipped 17.1 points from the previous close while Sensex opened almost flat at 40623.19 levels. The Bank Nifty on spot level made a gap down opening of 139.05 points at 23353.15 levels.

At 9.50 am IST, the Nifty and Sensex are trading lower by 0.85% and 0.73% respectively while the Bank Nifty on the spot levels trading 1.17% down.

Tata Steel, Titan Company, and Reliance are trading as the top gainers in the Nifty index while Wipro, Coal India, and ONGC are trading as top losers. Wipro, Reliance, and Infosys are trading as the most active stocks in the NSE at this moment.

Almost all major sectors are trading in the red today, Banking & Finance,  IT & Software, and Automobiles sectors are top losers.

Asian markets are trading in the red as Singapore’s economy contracts at a slower pace in the third quarter. Nikkei and Hang Seng are trading lower by 0.05% and 0.28% respectively while Shanghai is trading 0.48% down. The SGX Nifty is also trading 45 points or 0.38% down at this moment. 

The U.S Markets closed lower on Tuesday as the markets were pressured by a string of mixed earnings from companies ranging from airlines to banks. Dow and S&P 500 declined by 0.55% and 0.63% respectively while Nasdaq fell 0.10% on 13th October.

European markets fell on Tuesday as Johnson& Johnson’s paused its COVID-19 clinical trials raise doubts about the timeline of a vaccine. The European indices FTSE and CAC closed lower by 0.53% and 0.64% respectively while DAX was down 0.91% on 13th October.

Indian markets were flat on Tuesday, the benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed higher by 0.03% and 0.08% respectively. FIIs were the buyers and DIIs were the seller in the cash market on Tuesday. FIIs bought Rs 832.14 cr while DIIs sold Rs 1674.46 cr in the cash market on 13th October.

Today the Indian market may open in the flat to negative zone as per the signal getting from the global market.

News that may influence the Indian stock market today 

 

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Tuesday said that it expects India’s GDP to contract 10.3% in FY21. Earlier in June, it forecasted a 4.5% drop in GDP FY21. The change in forecast is due to a severe than the anticipated contraction in economic activities in Q1 FY21.

The IT company Wipro has announced a 3.2% sequential growth in its 2Q results. The quarterly earnings beat the analyst expectation on all front. The Company’s consolidated profit increased to Rs 2465.7 cr for the quarter compared to Rs 2390.4 cr in the previous quarter. The company has announced the share buyback of Rs 9500 cr at the rate of Rs 400 per share.  We may see some movements in the IT stocks today.
