Nifty 50 & Sensex Flat, but Mid & Small-Cap Indexes Soar; Read the Market Twist

Sensex and Nifty 50 Today Sept 26, 2023: Indian stock market indices opened slightly higher on Tuesday despite the negative cues from Asian Markets. The Nifty 50 index opened edge higher by 8.25 points at 19682.80 levels, while Sensex also opened marginally higher by 47.95 points at 66071.64 levels. The Bank Nifty opened slightly down at 43.6 points at the 44722.50 level.

Market Live at 9.35 am IST, the Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty 50 are trading flat and hovering near their flat line. The Bank Nifty is trading slightly lower by 0.14 percent at 9.35 IST. The broader markets are outperforming their larger peers, as the Nifty mid and smallcap indexes are trading higher by 0.29 percent and 0.70 percent respectively.

Among the sectors, Metal, Media, and PSU Banking sectors are gaining the most, while IT, Financial Services, and Banks are in the red.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are Eicher Motors, Tata Steel, Dr. Reddy, L&T, and Ultratech Cement, and the top losing stocks are Apollo Hospital, Asian Paints, TechM, TCS, and Kotak Bank.

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are HDFC Bank, Eicher Motors, Reliance in terms of volume Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, and Power Grid.

 

Asian Stock Market Live Updates Today

 

The other Asian stock markets are mostly trading lower on Tuesday despite the rally in the US markets overnight. Investors are cautious after Moody’s warning that a U.S. government shutdown would be “credit negative” for the world’s largest economy.

Nikkei extended early losses and is trading lower by 0.96 percent, as Japan’s wholesale inflation for its services sector climbed 2.1% YoY basis, its fastest rate of increase since September 2022. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 and South Korea’s Kospi also extended their early losses and are trading lower by 0.65 percent and 1.23 percent respectively.

Hang Seng and Shanghai are trading lower by 0.86 percent and 0.33 percent respectively. Elsewhere, the Straits Times, Jakarta, and Taiwan indexes are trading in the red, while the SET composite is trading slightly higher at 9.10 a.m. IST.
