Market Trends: Nifty 50, Sensex Edge Up, Media, and PSU Banks Gain

Sensex and Nifty 50 Today 5 Sept 2023: Indian stock market indices opened marginally higher on Tuesday, despite negative cues from Asian Markets. The Nifty index opened higher by 35.85 points at 19564.65 levels, while Sensex also opened higher by 43.46 points at 65671.60 levels. The Bank Nifty made a positive opening of 46.75 points at the 44625.05 level.

Market Live at 9.35 am IST, the Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty 50 are trading slightly higher by 0.06 percent and 0.09 percent respectively. The Bank Nifty is trading flat to the positive at 9.35 IST. The broader markets are outperforming their larger peers, as the Nifty mid and smallcap indexes are trading higher by 0.85 percent and 0.77 percent respectively.

Among the sectors, barring Metal and IT, all other sectoral indices are trading in the green. The leading sectors are Media, Pharma, and Realty

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are Apollo Hospital, Coal India, Cipla, Titan, and Sun Pharma and the top losing stocks are Hindalco, JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Dr. Reddy, and Ultratech Cement.

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are HDFC Bank, Reliance, and Bajaj Finance, in terms of volume Tata Steel, Coal India, and HDFC Bank.

 

Asian Stock Market Live Updates Today

 

Asian stock market indexes are trading lower on Tuesday, as investors are waiting for the Australian Central Bank (ACB) interest rate decision and other economic data in the region. Investors will be closely monitoring the inflation data from Thailand and the Philippines and the Services PMI reading from China and Hong Kong, later in the day.

South Korea’s Kospi is trading slightly lower by 0.09 percent as the country’s inflation reading came higher than expected in August. Japan’s Nikkei turned positive, trading slightly higher by 0.10 percent, while the Australian S&P/ASX 200 is trading lower by 0.42 percent ahead of the ACB interest rate outcome. 

Hang Seng and Shanghai extended their early losses and are also trading lower by 1.53 percent and 0.63 percent respectively. Elsewhere, Straits Times, Jakarta, and Taiwan are trading lower while the SET composite is trading slightly higher at 9.15 am IST.
