Nifty end above 19700, Sensex up 529 pts, Bank, Financial stocks gain

 

Sensex and Nifty Today July 13, 2023: Indian stock market indexes ended at a new high on Monday. The market sentiments were upbeat due to continued FIIs inflow in the equity cash segments. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were buyers on Friday as they bought equities worth Rs 2,636.43 crore, according to exchange data. 

Markets got some support from Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar hailing India`s remarkable progress in building unicorns and startups and forecasted that the next 4-5 years will witness substantial growth for such enterprises and the startups in the country will increase by 10 times. 

Besides, IMF has said that India has taken a very proactive approach toward making progress on the priorities of the G20, and its presidency’s key priorities are enhancing financing for global public goods and strengthening macroeconomic coordination.

 

Stock Market Indexes Today

 

The Nifty 50 index closed higher by 146.95 points or 0.75 percent and closed at 19711.45 levels while the Sensex was up by 529.03 points or 0.80 percent and finished at 66589.93 levels. The Bank Nifty index ended higher by 630.45 points or 1.41 percent on the spot level and closed at 45449.75 levels

The broader markets also closed today, as the Nifty midcap index was up by 112.30 points or 0.31 percent and closed at 36641.25 levels. The Nifty smallcap index ended higher by 100.20 points or 0.88 percent at 11424.10 levels.

 

Nifty 50 top gainers & losers 

 

The top gainers in the Nifty 50 index were SBI, Dr. Reddy, Wipro, Grasim, and HDFC Bank  and the top losers were ONGC, Hero Motors, Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel, and JSW Steel

The top gainers in the Nifty midcap index were ZEEL, IDEA, and ALKEM and the top losers were JSW Energy, Bandhan Bank, and Godrej Properties.

The smallcap top gainers were PPL Pharma, RBL Bank, and Latent View while the top losers were Route, Angel One, and Tejas Net

The most active stocks in the Nifty index in terms of value were HDFC Bank, Reliance, and Infy. The most active stocks in terms of volume were Tata Steel, Wipro, and HDFC Bank.

On the sectoral front, Media, PSU Bank, Nifty Bank, and Financial Services closed higher while the sector that closed in the red was Auto and Realty.

 

Global Stock Market Today

 

The other Asian stock market indexes closed mixed on Monday, as China’s economic data missed economists’ expectations, and the Shanghai index closed lower. Kospi also closed lower snapping a four-day winning streak. Nikkei is not trading today due to a holiday on account of Marine Day. 

Hang Seng was closed today due to a Typhoon warning. Other indexes like Taiwan, SET Composite, Straits Times, and Jakarta ended in the green.

European stock markets are trading lower on Monday, as the weak economic data released in China’s hit the market sentiments.
