Nifty and Sensex Live Today: Indices Trade Higher, Auto & Media Sectors See Gains

Nifty and Sensex Live Today, 16 Feb 2024: Indian stock market indexes opened higher on Friday following the gains from Wall Street overnight and the positive Asian market peers. The other Asian stock markets are trading higher, with the Hang Seng index gaining the most, up nearly 2% at this moment.

The Nifty index opened above 22000 as indicated by the Gift Nifty in the morning. Nifty today opened higher at 22020.30, up by 109.55 points, while the Sensex made a positive opening of 355.64 points at 72406.03 levels. The Bank Nifty index also opened a positive of 235.4. points at 46454.30 levels.

The Nifty 50 index is trading higher by 98 points or 0.45 percent and at 22009 levels while the Sensex is up by 283 points or 0.39 percent and at 72335 levels. The Bank Nifty index is trading lower by 155 points or 0.34 percent on the spot level and at 46366 levels.

The broader markets are trading in line with their larger peers as the Nifty midcap index is up by 206.25 points or 0.45 percent and at 49036 levels. The Nifty smallcap index is trading higher by 119 points or 0.74 percent at 16226 levels.

 

Stock Market Updates Today

 

Among the sectors, barring Energy all sectoral indices are trading in the green. The sectors that are leading are Auto, Media, and Pharma.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are Bajaj Auto, BPCL, Tata Motors, Maruti, and M&M and the top losing stocks are Power Grid, ONGC, Apollo Hospital, ITC, and Axis Bank.

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are BPCL, HDFC Bank, and Tata Motors, and in terms of volume are BPCL, ITC, and ONGC.
