Nifty end above 17250, Sensex up 1277 pts today
Closing Bell: Sensex and Nifty today– Indian stock market indexes opened a gap-up on Tuesday amid positive cues from Wall Street overnight. Nifty today opened at 17147.45 levels up by 260.1 points while Sensex made a positive opening of 717.19 points at 57506.65 levels. The domestic indexes extended their early gains and closed on a strong note.
Stock Market News and Updates Today
Indian domestic equity markets continued to trade in high spirit throughout the day, on account of broad-based buying in blue-chip counters. Traders were optimistic as foreign investors turned net buyers after eight days of being net sellers. According to National Stock Exchange data, foreign portfolio investors bought equities worth 590.58 on Monday.
The market sentiments were also upbeat as ICRA Ratings’ stated that the credit quality of corporates has strengthened further in the first half of the current fiscal with rating upgrades being more than three times that of downgrades, carrying on with the momentum since early FY22.
On the global front, the other Asian markets closed higher amid positive cues from the US markets overnight. The market sentiments were also positive after the smaller-than-expected rate hike by the RBA. Hang Seng and Shanghai were closed today due to a holiday. European stock markets are trading higher following the positive cues from their Asian peers.
Sensex and Nifty at the close today
The Nifty50 index was up by 392.25 points or 2.32 percent and closed at 17279.60 levels while the Sensex gained by 1276.66 points or 2.25 percent and finished at 58065.47 levels. The Bank Nifty index ended higher today by 1080.40 points or 2.84 percent on the spot level and ended at 39110.05
The broader markets also closed higher almost in line with their larger peers today, as the Nifty midcap index gained by 805.95 points or 2.66 percent and closed at 31090.60 levels. The Nifty smallcap index closed higher today by 165.30 points or 1.76 percent at 9544.45 levels.
Nifty 50 Stocks top gainers and losers today
The top gainers in the Nifty50 Stocks were IndusInd Bank, Adani Ports, Bajaj Finance, Coal India, and Hero Motocorp and the top losers were Power Grid and Dr. Reddy’s Labs
The top gainers in the Nifty midcap index were M&M Finance, IDFC First Bank, and Varun Beverages and the top losers were Guj State Petro, Guj Gas, and Godrej Agrovet
The Smallcap index top gainers for the day were Vakrangee, Mazgaon Dock, and IDFC while the top losers were VIP Industries, BASF, and KEC Intl
The most active stocks in the Nifty index in terms of value were Adani Ent. Reliance and Infy The most active stocks in terms of volume were Tata Steel, Power Grid, and ONGC
On the sectoral front, all sectoral indices were closed higher today. The sectors that led the rally were Metals, IT, Banking, Financial, and Media.
