Market watch: Nifty gainers today, Nifty stocks are in news 

Sensex and Nifty gainers today: As expected, the Indian stock market opened in a flat note today morning.  A range-bound trend was seen in the first half and later some profit booking was seen in the market. In the end, the Indian markets were closed in red for the second consecutive day today.

The Nifty fell 48.20 points or 0.39% at 12214.55 while the Sensex was down 181.40 points or 0.43% and closed at 41461.26. The Bank Nifty also declined 58.70 points and closed 32280.75.

The Nifty midcap 100 index was declined 25.40 points or 0.15% at 16852.05. Whereas the Nifty smallcap 100 index closed almost flat 0.45 points up at 5679.90. 

 

Nifty gainers today

The top Nifty gainers today are Yes Bank, Cipla, IndusInd Bank, JSW Steel, and ONGC. The losers in the Nifty50 space for the day are BPCL, HCL Tech, Reliance, UPL, and Eicher Motors

In the Nifty midcap space, the top gainers of the day are Reliance Infra, Reliance Capital and the losers for the day are Dish TV, Quess Corp. In the Nifty smallcap space the gainers are Radico Khaitan, Jet Airways and the losers are  CG Power, Guj Mineral.

Among the sectors Real Estate, Media, Metal, Power, and Hospitality are closed in green. The sectors which closed in red today are Oil & Gas, IT & Software, Logistics, Footwear, and Banks.

Nifty stocks gainers today for news

The board of NIIT Technologies has approved buyback of its equity share. The share price of NIIT Technologies has gained 1.22% and closed at Rs 1597.85 per share

The Ministry of Railway has revised the tariff of standard meals on static units all over Indian Railways. The share price of Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has gained 2.64% and closed at Rs 887.55 per share 

IFCI has realized an amount of Rs 805 (approx) crore representing about 82% of the total committed amount from the disinvestment of the company’s entire stake in NSE of India. The share price of IFCI gained 7.14%  and closed at Rs 6.75% per share.

The Committee of Creditors (CoC) of Jet Airways has passed the resolutions to issue fresh invitation of expression of interest for the corporate debtor in the e-voting concluded on 22nd Dec. The share price of Jet Airways has gained 4.95% and closed at Rs 26.50 per share.

Transformers and Rectifiers India has got an order of Transformers worth Rs 166 crore from a Transmission company of Nigeria ( Its a world bank funded project). The share price of Transformers and Rectifiers gained 20% and closed at Rs 7.85 per share 

Morgan Stanley has maintained an underweight on Bharti Infratel with the price target set at Rs 227 per share. The share price of Bharti Infratel gained 0.27%  and closed at Rs 255.30 per share.

 

Nifty stocks losers today due to news

Alembic Pharma and Granules India has got USFDA approval for abbreviated new drug application (ANDA). The share price of Granules Indian has fell 0.63% and Alembic Pharma was up 0.90% and closed at Rs 126.35 per share and Rs546.20 respectively.

BHEL has successfully commissioned the first Lignite based 500 MW thermal unit of the 2×500 MW Neyveli New Thermal power project in Tamil Nadu. the share price of BHEL has fell 1.36% and closed at Rs 43.50 per share.

BPCL disinvestment may take some time it’s likey to push next financial year. The share price of BPCL declined 3.08%  and closed at Rs 477.80 per share.

Dilip Buildcon has executed the EPC agreement with the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA). The share price of Dilip Buildcon has fell 1.58% despite the news and closed at Rs 393.55 per share.

 

Crude and Rupee Updates:

Crude oil future is trading higher today, the Brent crude oil future is trading at $66.65 per barrel. It is currently trading 0.40% higher than the previous close. Indian Rupee is trading at Rs 71.27 against the dollar.

 

Conclusions:

Indian stock market closed in red for the second consecutive day. The market was trading sideways today and some profit booking seen in the last hour. We have mentioned above top Nifty gainers today and losers.

Tomorrow the market will be closed on account of Christmas. Thursday will monthly derivative expiry. The market will be volatile in a tight range on Thursday due to expiry.
