Nifty index end above 18000, Sensex up 114pts today
Sensex and Nifty Index Today: Indian stock markets opened flat on Friday amid mixed cues from Asian markets. The Nifty index opened at 18053.40 levels absolutely flat while the Sensex made a negative opening of 138.14 points at 60698.27 levels. The Indian equity benchmarks traded negatively most of the day and in the last hour erased all losses and closed marginally higher.
Stock Market News and Updates Today
The domestic market sentiments turned positive despite weak cues from Wall Street. The yield on India’s 10-year benchmark federal paper declined by 7.469 as compared to 7.482 at the close of the previous session. The sentiments got further boosted by the appreciation of the Indian rupee and the continuous buying spree by foreign institutions. FIIs buying on Thursday was 677.62 crore as per the provisional data available on NSE.
On the global front, the other Asian market were mostly closed higher on Friday. European markets are also trading higher as the sentiments were upbeat on the hopes that China will relax covid-related restrictions soon.
Sensex and Nifty index at the close today
The Nifty index was up by 64.45 points or 0.36 percent and closed at 18117.15 levels while the Sensex gained by 113.95 points or 0.19 percent and finished at 60950.36 levels. The Bank Nifty index ended in the red today, down by 39.90 points or 0.10 percent on the spot level and ended at 41258.45
The broader markets closed mixed today, and the Nifty midcap index closed lower by 78.95 points or 0.25 percent and at 31707.90 levels. The Nifty smallcap index ended higher by 36.05 points or 0.37 percent at 9755.70 levels.
Nifty 50 Stocks top gainers and losers today
The top gainers in the Nifty 50 Stocks were Adani Enterprises, Hindalco, Bajaj Finserve, Adani Ports, and JSW Steel and the top losers were Hero Motorcorp, Cipla, Dr. Reddy Labs, BPCL, and HDFC Life
The top gainers in the Nifty midcap index were Amara Raja Batt, Exide Ind, and Dalmia Bharat and the top losers were Ajanta Pharma, Aditya Birla Fashion, and Varun Beverages.
The smallcap top gainers were J K Lakshmi Cement, Rail Vikas, and Sun Pharma Adv while the top losers were Fine Organics, BASF, and HEG
The most active stocks in the Nifty index in terms of value were Adani Ent. SBI and Reliance. The most active stocks in terms of volume were Tata Steel, SBI, and NTPC
On the sectoral front, Metals, Media, PSU Bank, Oil & Gas, and Realty were closed in the green today. The sectors that closed in the red were Pharma, IT, FMCG, and Banking
