Global stock market updates

The US markets witnessed a sharp selloff on Friday, Dow Jones tumbles nearly 1000 points registering the worst day since 2020. Worries about slowing corporate earnings and the Federal Reserves’ aggressive rate hike plan dragged the US market indexes on Friday.

European market indexes closed near one month low on Friday due to the combination of negative factors like China lockdown, aggressive US interest rate fear, and uncertainty about the Ukraine crisis. The UK’s weak PMI and retail sales data also weigh the market sentiments on the last day of the week.

Conclusions

Indian stock markets closed lower near the day’s low on Friday. The market sentiments were downbeat on Friday due to hawkish comments made by the Fed’s chair regarding an aggressive rate hike in May to curb inflation. Other than high inflation, FIIs outflow, uncertainty regarding the Ukraine crisis, and weak quarterly results are a few factors that may impact Indian markets in the coming days.

Traders need to remain extra cautious on Monday as US and European markets closed in the deep red on Friday and the monthly F&O expiry is also scheduled in the coming week.
