Global stock market updates

The US stock market indexes closed lower on Friday, snapping a three-day winning streak due to surprisingly weak quarterly results from companies. Snapchat posted its weakest-ever quarterly earnings while Twitter revenue fell during the quarter. The profit bookings were triggered on Friday, as weak quarterly earnings have reminded investors about the ongoing issues like the possibility of a recession, persistently high inflation, and other uncertainties.

European markets gained marginally higher on Friday even after a survey indicates a contraction in the eurozone economy in July. The sentiments were slightly positive as Russia and Ukraine have signed a three-month deal to resume grain exports from three Ukrainian ports.

Conclusions

Indian markets advanced for the sixth consecutive day in a row. The markets closed at a strong near day’s high on Friday. The positive global market sentiments, FII’s inflow, and absence of any negative trigger lifted the market sentiments on Friday.
