Nifty, Sensex Began on Positive Note Despite Weak Global Signals

Sensex and Nifty Today 8 Sept 2023: Indian stock market indices opened higher on Friday despite weakness in global markets. The Nifty index opened higher by 47.75 points at 19774.80 levels, while Sensex also opened higher by 115.87 points at 66381.43 levels. The Bank Nifty opened positively at 75.3 points at the 44953.65 level.

Market Live at 9.30 am IST, the Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty are trading higher by 0.30 percent and 0.27 percent respectively. The Bank Nifty is trading slightly higher by 0.05 percent at 9.30 IST. The broader markets are outperforming their larger peers, as the Nifty mid and smallcap indexes are trading higher by 0.48 percent and 0.70 percent respectively.

Among the sectors, the Media, Realty, and Energy sectors are gaining the most while IT and Banking sectors are trading slightly lower.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are L&T, NTPC, Bajaj Finserve, Bharti Airtel, and Maruti and the top losing stocks are Hindalco, Coal India, SBI Life, Apollo Hospital, and Axis Bank.

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are L&T, HDFC Bank, and Reliance, in terms of volume Tata Steel, Coal India, and NTPC

 

Asian Stock Market Live Updates Today

 

The other Asian stock market indexes are trading lower on Friday following the negative cues from Wall Street and as Japan released lower-than-expected second-quarter GDP growth figures.

Japan’s Nikkei extended early losses and is trading lower by 1.23 percent.  The country’s economy grew 4.8% in the second quarter, lower than the preliminary estimates and Reuter’s poll.

Hong Kong canceled the morning trading session due to a black rainstorm warning overnight. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 and South Korea’s Kospi are trading lower by 0.36 percent and 0.60 percent respectively, while the Shanghai index extended early losses and is trading lower by 0.45 percent.

Elsewhere, Straits Times, Jakarta, and Taiwan are trading in the red, whereas SET composite is trading marginally higher at 9 a.m. IST.
