Stock Market News Today

The market sentiments were negative as traders were cautious after World Bank stated that the introduction of the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) could potentially pose risks to privacy. This may increase the responsibilities of the central bank and may also lead to currency substitution through cross-border transactions. Further, the market sentiments got hit as the country’s WPI inflation accelerates to 14.55 percent in March from 13.11 percent in February, reported 17 months high due to a surge in food prices.

Besides this, the rising covid cases in Delhi, Delhi-NCR, and Maharashtra also dented the domestic market sentiments today. The market participants are now worried that the fourth wave could hit the traders and business owners again who are trying to recover their losses over the past two years.

On a global front, the other Asian market indexes closed mostly in the red even after China’s economy expanded more than expected in the first quarter. The impact of covid lockdown in Shanghai and other important cities has hit retail sales, factories, and employment.
