Nifty and Sensex Plummet, All Sectors in the Red-Is Your Portfolio Safe ?

Sensex and Nifty Today Oct 3, 2023: Indian stock market indices opened slightly lower on Tuesday, following the negative cues from Asian markets. The Nifty index opened lower by 15.9 points at 19622.40 levels, while Sensex also opened lower by 14.99 points at 65813.42 levels. The Bank Nifty opened a gap-down at 23.05 points at the 44561.50 level.

Market Live at 9.30 am IST, the Indian stock market indices extended their early losses, Sensex and Nifty are trading lower by 0.45 percent and 0.53 percent respectively. The Bank Nifty is also trading lower by 0.66 percent at 9.30 IST. The broader markets are also trading slightly lower today, as the Nifty mid and smallcap indexes are trading lower by 0.17 percent and 0.07 percent respectively.

Among the sectors, all sectoral indices are trading in the red. The sectors that are dragging the most are Energy, Auto, and Pharma.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are Asian Paints, Ultratech Cement, HCL tech, HUL, and Adani Ports, and the top losing stocks are Eicher Motors, ONGC, Hindalco, Maruti, and Hero Motors.

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are HDFC Bank, Reliance, and M&M in terms of volume Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, and ONGC

 

Asian Stock Market Live Updates Today

 

The other Asian stock market indexes are trading lower on Tuesday, as 10-year US Treasury yields climbed back near a 16-year high due to rate hike fear. The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) keeps hold of the key interest rate in today’s meeting as widely expected. 

Japan’s Nikkei is trading lower by 1.37 percent while Australia’s S&P ASX 200 is also trading lower by 1.10 percent. Hang Seng is trading sharply lower in the region, the index is down by 3.27 percent. South Korean and Shanghai indexes are not trading today due to the public holiday. 

Elsewhere, Straits Time, SET Composite, and Taiwan are also trading lower, while Jakarta Composite is trading higher at 9.10 a.m. IST.
