Nifty, Sensex Give UP Initial Gains; Trade Sideways; Realty, Pharma Declines
Sensex and Nifty Today Aug 31, 2023: Indian stock market indices opened marginally higher on Thursday following mixed global cues. The Nifty index opened higher by 28.1 points at 19375.55 levels, while Sensex also opened higher by 91.08 points at 65178.33 levels. The Bank Nifty made a positive opening of 33.25 points at the 44265.85 level.

Market Live at 9.35 am IST, the Indian stock market indices are trading flat, Sensex and Nifty are trading higher by 0.09 percent and 0.05 percent respectively. The Bank Nifty is trading higher by 0.20 percent at 9.35 IST. The broader markets are outperforming their larger peers, as the Nifty mid and smallcap indexes are trading higher by 0.24 percent and 0.48 percent respectively.
Among the sectors, Media, IT, and Auto sectors are gaining the most while Realty, Fin. Services and Banks are trading in the deep red.
The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are Hindalco, TechM, Maruti, HCL Tech, and Power Grid and the top losing stocks are Adani Enterprise, Adani Ports, Eicher Motors, HDFC Bank, and BPCL
The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are Adani Enterprise, HDFC Bank, and Reliance. In terms of volume Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, and Adani Ports.
Asian Stock Market Live Updates Today
Asian stock markets are mostly trading lower on Thursday, as China’s manufacturing activity contracted for the fifth straight month in August, according to the official NBS Manufacturing PMI data. The PMI index slightly improved as compared to July and was better than the economist poll on Reuters.
Hang Seng pared early gains and is trading lower by 0.25 percent while the Shanghai index extended early losses and is trading lower by 0.60 percent
Japan’s Nikkei is trading higher by 0.54 percent, as the country’s retail sales reported more than expected in July. South Korea’s Kospi extended losses and is trading lower by 0.39 percent, as the country’s Industrial production slipped marking the 10th consecutive month of contraction.
Elsewhere, the Straits Times is trading higher by 0.23 percent, while Set Composite, Jakarta, and Taiwan are trading lower at 9.10 am IST.
