Nifty, Sensex Up on Global Positivity, Metals Sector Soars by 2%

Sensex and Nifty Today 4 Sept 2023: Indian stock market indices opened higher on Monday following mixed global cues. The Nifty index opened higher by 89.75 points at 19525.05 levels, while Sensex also opened higher by 138.75 points at 65525.91 levels. The Bank Nifty made a positive opening of 211.55 points at the 44647.65 level.

Market Live at 9.40 a.m. IST, the Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty are trading higher by 0.15 percent and 0.23 percent respectively. The Bank Nifty is trading higher by 0.62 percent at 9.40 a.m. IST. The broader markets are outperforming their larger peers, as the Nifty mid and smallcap indexes are trading higher by 0.57 percent and 0.84 percent respectively.

Among the sectors, barring FMCG all sectoral indices are trading in the green. The leading sectors are Metals, Media, and Realty.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are Tata Steel, Hindalco, Coal India, JSW Steel, and Ultratech Cement and the top losing stocks are Nestle India, Asian Paints, Bajaj Auto, LTIM, and Britannia.

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are HDFC Bank, Maruti, and Tata Steel, in terms of volume Tata Steel, ONGC, and NTPC

 

Asian Stock Market Live Updates Today

 

Asian stock markets are trading higher on Monday. The Hang Seng index led gains due to the surge in property stocks. Investors are now looking ahead to China’s Tarde data and Australia’s interest rate decision later this week. Hang Seng Index (HSI) is trading higher by 2.64 percent, Hong Kong markets were closed on Friday due to super Typhoon Saola.

Shanghai Index extended its early gains, up by 1.12 percent. Japan’s Nikkei is up by 0.48 percent, gaining for the sixth consecutive day. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 is also gaining 0.41 percent, while South Korea’s Kospi is trading higher by 0.39 percent. Elsewhere, Taiwan, Jakarta, and Straits Times have also started the week on a positive note, while the SET composite is trading marginally lower at 9.15 a.m. IST
