Sensex and Nifty Hold Steady, Mid- and Smallcaps Regain Ground

Sensex and Nifty Today, 14 March 2024: Indian stock market indexes opened slightly lower on Thursday following mixed global cues. The Nifty today opened slightly lower at 21982.55, down by 15.15 points, while the Sensex made a negative opening of 191.79 points at 72570.10 levels. The Bank Nifty index also opened lower by 155.55 points at 46825.75 levels.

The other major Asian stock market indexes are trading mixed at 9.10 am IST.  Among the major indices, Nikkei 225, Shanghai, Hang Seng, and Taiwan are in the negative territory, while Straits Times, Kospi, SET, and Jakarta Composite are in the positive zone.

Indian stock market indexes are trading flat at this moment. The Nifty 50 index trades edged higher by 5 points or 0.02 percent and at 22002 levels while the Sensex is down by 64 points or 0.09 percent and at 72704 levels. The Bank Nifty index is trading lower by 244 points or 0.58 percent on the spot level and at 46707 levels.

The broader markets are trading higher today, as the Nifty midcap index is up by 308 points or 0.67 percent and at 46280 levels. The Nifty smallcap index traded higher by 200 points or 1.40 percent at 14495 levels.

Among the sectors, Media, Energy, and Metal are gaining the most, while Realty, Bank, and Financial Services are dragging down the markets.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, Hero Motors, BPCL, and Hindalco, and the top losing stocks are Tata Steel, Bajaj Finance, JSW Steel, LTIM, and TCS.

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are HDFC Bank, Tata Motors, and Reliance, and in terms of volume Tata Steel, Tata Motors, and ITC.
