Stock Market News and Updates Today

Other than the positive global cues, the report of Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections in September are likely to be about Rs 1.45 trillion, and the monthly average mop-up in FY23 could be around Rs 1.55 trillion supported by the markets.

However, gains remain capped due to profit booking at the higher levels and as sustained selling by FIIs dampens the market sentiments. Investors are concerned with the data available on the NSE that showed the foreign institutional investors (FIIs) net offloaded shares worth Rs 2,772.49 crore on September 28, 2022. Some cautiousness was also seen in the markets ahead of the RBI Monetary policy which is due on Friday.

Meanwhile, capital markets regulator Sebi came out with guidelines pertaining to preferential issues and institutional placement of units by emerging investment vehicles — REIT and InvIT.

On the global front, the Asian stock market indices were closed on a mixed note after the Bank of England (BoE) said it would buy long-dated government bonds on `whatever scale is necessary to address dysfunction in the gilt market.

European market indexes are trading in the red in early trade on Thursday. The relief sparked by the Bank of England’s intervention in bond markets proved short-lived, as the investors now mulling the scale of the intervention.
