Indian stock Market News Today

In the second half, markets trimmed their gains and closed marginally higher on Wednesday.  The market sentiments were positive as some support came after the commerce ministry showed the data that the country’s merchandise exports rose by 26.4 percent to $ 25.33 billion for this month till 21 February. The improvement in the data recorded was due to the healthy performance by sectors including gems and jewelry, engineering, textiles, and chemicals. This is as compared to the last year’s export of $20.04 for the same period.

However, the markets got some support after the Russian President says Moscow is ready to look for ‘diplomatic solutions’ with the West over Ukraine. Though, the upside of the markets remained capped as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the Russia-Ukraine crisis and the jump in crude prices are a challenge to financial stability in India.

On the global front, the other Asian markets mostly closed in the green today despite the negative cues overnight from Wall Street. European market indexes opened higher and are trading firms as investors tracked the latest development in the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
