Sensex and Nifty Today Aug 23, 2023: Indian stock market indices opened higher on Wednesday tracking the mixed cues from global Markets. The Nifty index opened higher by 42.75 points at 19439.20 levels, while Sensex also opened higher by 80.9 points at 65300.93 levels. The Bank Nifty made a positive opening of 71.25 points at the 44064.50 level.

Market Live at 9.40 am IST, the Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty are trading slightly higher by 0.04 percent and 0.06 percent respectively. The Bank Nifty is trading slightly higher by 0.10 percent at 9.40 IST. The broader markets are outperforming their larger peers, as the Nifty mid and smallcap indexes are trading higher by 0.50 percent and 0.49 percent respectively.
Among the sectors, barring Pharma and FMCG all sectoral indices are trading in the green. The sectors that are leading are Media, Metal, and Realty
The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are Hindalco, LT, Cipla, LTIM, and Tata Steel and the top losing stocks are Adani Enterprise, Bharti Airtel, Tata Consumer, HDFC Life, and ITC
The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, and Adani Enterprise in terms of volume Tata Steel, NTPC, and Hindalco.

Asian stock market indexes are mostly extending their previous session gains on Wednesday. The cues from the US markets were negative due to higher Treasury yields. Japan’s Nikkei is trading slightly higher by 0.23 percent as the country’s business activity expanded at a faster pace in August, according to Jibun Bank flash PMI data.
South Korea’s Kospi is trading lower by 0.51 percent. Hang Seng is trading slightly higher by 0.32 percent while the Shanghai index is trading lower by 0.55 percent. Elsewhere, Straits Times, Taiwan, SET Composite, and Jakarta Composite are trading in the green at 9.05 am IST
