Sensex, Nifty, and Beyond: Unpacking the Morning Market Movements

Sensex and Nifty Live UpdatesToday, 21 Feb 2024: Indian stock market indexes opened higher on Wednesday as indicated by the Gift Nifty in the morning. The other Asian stock markets are mostly trading in the red, while Hang Seng gaining about 3% and Shanghai is up by 1.7% at this moment.

Nifty today opened marginally higher at 22248.85, up by 51.9 points, while the Sensex also made a positive opening of 210.08 points at 73267.48 levels. The Bank Nifty index opened a gap-up of 269.2 points at 47363.40 levels.

The Nifty 50 index is trading higher by 39 points or 0.18 percent and at 22238 levels while the Sensex is up by 125 points or 0.18 percent and at 73195 levels. The Bank Nifty index is trading lower by 180 points or 0.38 percent on the spot level and at 47264 levels.

The broader markets are trading higher today, as the Nifty midcap index is up by 97 points or 0.20 percent and at 49345 levels. The Nifty smallcap index is trading higher by 60 points or 0.37 percent at 16230 levels.

Among the sectors, the Realty, Metal, and PSU Bank sectors are gaining the most, while the Media and IT sectors are in red.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Hindalco, IndusInd Bank, and M&M and the top losing stocks are Hero Motors, Infy, Power Grid, BPCL, and HCL tech

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are HDFC Bank, Hindalco, and Tata Steel, and in terms of volume are Tata Steel, Hindalco, and HDFC Bank
