Market Live 4 Feb: Sensex and Nifty are trading marginally lower, banking stocks are trading lower

 

Sensex and Nifty live today 4 Feb 2021 at 10 AM IST: It was a flat start for the Indian stock markets today as indicated by the global peers. Nifty opened absolutely flat at 14789.05 level while Sensex opened at 50212.25, down only 43.5 points. Bank Nifty made a negative opening of 209.55 points at 34548.90 levels.

At 10 AM IST, Sensex and Nifty are trading marginally lower by 0.34% and 0.25% respectively while Bank Nifty on the spot price is trading 1.25% down.

M&M, ONGC, and Gail are trading as the top gainers in the Nifty index whereas IndusInd Bank, Bharti Airtel, and ICICI Bank are trading as the top losers. Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors, and Reliance are trading as the most active stocks in the Nifty index at this moment.

On the sectoral front, Automobiles, Capital Goods, and Metals sectors are trading higher whereas Banks, Telecom, and Insurance sectors are trading in the red at 10 am IST.

 

Indian key indices Sensex and Nifty may open flat to positive today

Asian markets are mostly trading negative today. Nikkei and Shanghai are trading lower by 0.46% and 0.18% whereas Hang Seng is trading higher by 0.13%. SGX Nifty is trading 26 points higher at this moment. Indian key indices Sensex and Nifty may open flat to positive today.

The US market indices Dow and S&P 500 closed marginally higher on Wednesday as investors continued to turn their attention back to an improving economic outlook from the recent Gamestop drama. The US market indices Dow and S&P 500 closed slightly higher by 0.12% and 0.10% respectively whereas Nasdaq closed 0.02% down on Wednesday.

European stock markets closed mixed on Wednesday on positive corporate earnings. Italian markets outperformed after ECB chief Mario Draghi has been asked to try to form a new government. The European market indices FTSE closed marginally down by 0.14% while DAX closed higher by 0.71 % whereas CAC closed absolutely flat on Wednesday.

Indian stock markets closed higher on Wednesday. The benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty gained 0.92% and 0.97% respectively. FIIs were the buyers whereas DIIs were the sellers in the cash market segment. FIIs bought Rs 2520.92 crores whereas DIIs sold Rs 399.74 crores in the cash market segment on Wednesday.

News that may impact the Sensex and Nifty live today 4 Feb 2021

The Indian railway’s revenue declined by Rs 36,993 crore in 2020 as compared to the previous year due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic as Railway Minister Piyush Goyal informed Parliament on 3 February.

On Wednesday the US-based rating agency Moody said that India’s fiscal projections are higher than expected and slower consolidation will constrain its fiscal strength over the medium term. Moody also expects Indian nominal GDP growth to rise to closer to 17% in fiscal 2021, higher than 14.4% projected in the Budget.
