Stock Market News and Updates

The weak trade continued over Dalal Street in the morning session despite positive cues from other Asian markets. The domestic market sentiments were negative amid reports that with inflation showing no sign of abatement, the Reserve Bank is likely to increase the key interest rate in quick succession in its monetary policy review due this week, a hot for which has already been given by the Governor Shaktikanta Das.

However, the markets recovered in the afternoon session and were trading flat with a positive bias after taking positive cues from Asian and European markets. The domestic markets were trading volatile in a narrow range, once again turned negative just before the closing bell.

On the global front, Asian markets were mostly closed in the green on Monday, even after China’s service sector logged another marked contraction in May due to measures taken to contain the recent uptick in the Covid cases. European markets are trading higher as investors eye a no-confidence vote in UK Prime Minister Borris Johnson on Monday and on positive cues from the Asian markets.
