Sensex and Nifty Trade Steady Amidst Volatility; Realty Metal Stocks Gain

Sensex and Nifty Today Aug 28, 2023: Indian stock market indices opened higher on Monday following positive cues from Asian Markets. The Nifty index opened higher by 32.55 points at 19298.35 levels, while Sensex also opened slightly higher by 21.57 points at 64908.08 levels. The Bank Nifty made a positive opening of 22.2 points at the 44253.65 level.

Market Live at 9.45 am IST, the Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty are trading higher by 0.13 percent and 0.19 percent respectively. The Bank Nifty is also trading slightly higher by 0.10 percent at 9.45 IST. The broader markets are outperforming their larger peers, as the Nifty mid and smallcap indexes are trading higher by 0.41 percent and 0.54 percent respectively.

Among the sectors, the Realty, Metal, and Media sectors are gaining the most while FMCG and IT sectors are dragging the indexes.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are BPCL, Cipla, Adani Enterprises, L&T, and M&M, the top losing stocks are Bharti Airtel,, Britannia, HUL, Dr. Reddy, and Asian Paints

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are Adani Enterprise, HDFC Bank, and Reliance In terms of volume Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, and Tata Motors.

 

Asian Stock Market Live Updates Today

 

Asian stock markets started the week on a positive note, mainly for two reasons- US Fed’s Chair Jerome Powell’s speech was less hawkish at the Jackson Hole Symposium on Friday, and China reduced the stamp duty charges on stock trading effective from Monday to boost investors confidence and struggling markets.

The key Asian stock market indexes, Nikkei and Kospi are trading higher by 1.64 percent and 0.79 percent respectively. Shanghai and Hang Seng trimmed early gains but are trading higher by 2.32 percent and 1.81 percent respectively at 9 a.m. IST.

The other Asian stock market indexes, Straight Times, SET Composite, Jakarta Composite, and Taiwan are also trading higher at this moment.
