Market News Today 26 May: Indian share markets are trading marginally higher, metals, banks are down

 

Market Live today 26 May: Indian share market opened positive as indicated by the other Asian market peers. Nifty opened at 15257.05 levels, up by 48.6 points while Sensex made a positive opening of 262.05 points at 50899.58 levels. The Bank Nifty on the spot price opened in the green zone today at 34757.15, up by 95.15 points.

At 9.50 am IST, The key benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty are trading almost flat whereas the Bank Nifty on the spot price is trading lower by 0.32 percent.

Titan, UPL, and Cipa are trading as the top gainers in the Nifty 50 index whereas JSW Steel, Power Grid, and Tata Steel are trading as the top losers. The most active stocks at this moment in the Nifty 50 index are JSW Steel, Tata Steel, and Tata Motors.

On a sectoral front, Healthcare, Insurance, Automobiles sectors are trading higher whereas Metals, Banks, and Power sectors are trading in the red.

 

 

Indian share markets are likely to open flat

Asian markets are mostly trading in the green zone on Wednesday. Nikkei and Hang Seng are trading higher by 0.08 percent and 0.54 percent respectively. Shanghai is also trading higher by 0.21 percent. SGX Nifty is 50 points down and trading at 15199 levels. The Indication getting from the Asian markets is positive, Indian share markets are likely to open flat today.

The U.S market closed marginally lower on Tuesday after a volatile trading session despite the Fed’s comments to ease the concerns about rising inflation. The U.S market indices, Dow Jones, and S&P 500 declined 0.24 percent and 0.21 percent respectively. While Nasdaq closed almost flat, down just 0.03 percent on Tuesday. 

The European markets mostly closed in the red on Tuesday. The market sentiments were positive in the first half as a billion-dollar German property deal and due to the rally in technology shares. 

Most of the European indices turned red in the latter half due to losses in major mining stocks on concerns over Chinese markets. The European market indices FTSE and CAC closed lower by 0.31 percent and 0.28 percent respectively. Whereas DAX closed higher by 0.18 percent on Tuesday.

Indian share markets closed almost flat on Tuesday despite positive cues from global markets and stimulus package news for covid hit sectors. The key benchmark indices Sensex closed marginally lower by 0.03 percent whereas Nifty gained just 0.07 percent. FIIs were the buyers and DIIs were the seller in the cash market segment. FIIs bought Rs 959.77 crores and DIIs sold Rs 563.59 crores in the cash market segment on Tuesday.

Share market news that may impact the indices today, 26 May

 

The agriculture ministry on Tuesday said that India’s foodgrain production is estimated to rise 2.66% to a new record of 3.05.43 million tonnes in the current crop year 2020-21. This is due to the better output of rice, wheat, and pulses amid good monsoon rains last year.

The Industry chamber CII on Tuesday said that India is the preferred investment destination among global investors. This is due to the healthy inflow of FDI in the country. The FDI grew 19 percent to $59.64 billion during 2020-21 comprises equity, re-invested earnings, and capital. Gujarat received $30.23 billion in FDI during FY21 and recorded the highest in the country.

India’s GDP is likely to grow at 1.3 percent in the fourth quarter of 2020-21 and may see a contraction of around 7.3 percent for the full financial year, according to the SBI research report ‘Ecowrap’. The National Statistical Office (NSO) will announce the GDP estimates for the March-end quarter for 2021 and provisional annual estimates for the year 2020-21 on May 31.
