Good morning and welcome to the global market updates that you should know before the share markets open Today, 9 April at  7.55 am IST

Asian markets are trading mixed today. Nikkei is trading higher by 0.42 percent. Hang Seng and Shanghai are trading lower by 0.49 percent and 0.64 percent respectively. SGX Nifty is trading 15 points down. The per the indication getting from the Asian market, the Indian share markets may open flat today. 

The US markets climbed on Thursday, S&P 500 hits another record due to a rally in the technology stocks. The largest technology companies have rallied as the bond markets become stable and easing concerns about the high valuations of growth stocks. The US market indices Dow and S&P 500 gained 0.17 percent and 0.42 percent respectively while Nasdaq was up 1.03 percent on Thursday.

The European markets closed in the green on Thursday as the US Federal Reserve in its minutes of the last policy meeting said to keep the monetary policy loose for some time until economic conditions improve sufficiently from the pandemic. The European market indices FTSE and CAC gained 0.83 percent and 0.57 percent respectively while DAX closed higher by 0.17 percent on Thursday.

Indian stock markets trimmed some intraday gains and end marginally higher on Thursday. Sensex and Nifty closed higher by 0.17 percent and 0.37 percent respectively. FIIs and DIIs both were buyers in the cash market segment on Thursday. FIIs bought Rs 110.85 crores while DIIs bought Rs 552.78 crores in the cash market on 8 April.

 

 

News you should know before the share markets open today

 

According to the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) data shows consumer sentiments in March 2021 were down by 46.8 percent compared to the average in 2019-20. The CMIE on Thursday said that the higher-income households with higher savings and better sentiments will derive the revival in consumer spending in India.

As per the Labour Department report on Thursday, the US jobless claims totaled 744,000 for the week ended April 3. It was recorded  728,000 in the previous week and was estimated at 694,000 by market experts.
