Stock market news and updates today

Indian stock market was trading in the upbeat mode in the morning, led by gains in Healthcare, FMCG, and Consumer Durables stocks. Traders were optimistic with the private report stating that the Indian economy is projected to grow 7.1%-7.6% in the current financial year despite geopolitical tension and higher commodity prices across the world.

Traders also took note of commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal’s statement that the new Australian government supports the trade pact signed with India, and they are expected to soon approach their parliament for approval of the agreement. Markets ignored the WPI  numbers, which cooled to 15.18% in June from 15.88% in May.

However, the markets erased all gains in the second half as come concerns came with India Rating and Research report that stated Non-bank finance companies (NBFCs) may rely more on banks for their funding requirements as interest rates are hardening in the capital market.

On the global front, the other Asian markets were mostly closed in the red on Wednesday. The highly anticipated report on US inflation for the month of June turned out to be even worse than expected boosting bets the Federal Reserve could get more aggressive than earlier it was thought. European markets are trading in the red on Wednesday on fear of recession and ahead of US key corporate earnings from the financial sectors.
