Stock Market LIVE Today: Sensex and Nifty Drop, Realty and FMCG Sectors Struggle

Stock Market LIVE Today, 13 November 2023: Indian stock market indexes opened lower on Monday, as Asian markets turned red following weakness in US futures.

The Nifty index today opened lower by 38.8 points at the 19486.75 level, while Sensex made a negative opening of 101.14 points at the 65158.31 level. The Bank Nifty index also opened lower by 81.55 points at the 43915.10 level.

Market Live at 10 am IST, the Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty are trading lower by 0.36 percent and 0.28 percent respectively. The Bank Nifty is also trading lower by 0.30 percent at 10 a.m. IST. The broader markets are also trading mixed today, as the Nifty mid-cap index is down by 0.09% while the smallcap index is trading higher by 0.16 percent.

Among the sectors, Metal, Energy, and Auto are trading higher, while Realty, FMCG, and IT sectors are declining the most.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are Eicher Motors, Hindalco, NTPC, Coal India, and Power Grid and the top losing stocks are SBI Life Bajaj Finance, ONGC, HUL, and Nestle.

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are Coal India, HDFC Bank, and Eicher Motors, and in terms of volume are Coal India, NTPC, and ONGC.

 

Asian Stock Market Live Updates Today

 

The other Asian stock market indexes started the week on positive notes on Monday. The key indexes pared early gains in the morning session. The sentiments became negative, as US futures extended their early losses. The rating agency Moody’s Investor Services downgraded the rating outlook on the US government during the weekend.

Investors are looking ahead to the talks between the US and China. U.S. President Joe Biden and China’s President Xi Jinping will meet this week for their first one-to-one meeting in about a year. 

Japan’s Nikkei erased all early gains and is trading flat to the negative, while Australia’s S&P ASX 200 index extended its early losses and is down by 0.28%. South Korea’s Kospi is trading lower by 0.19%. The Shanghai index erased opening gains and trading lower by 0.19%, while Hang Seng erased all early gains and is trading lower by 0.19%.

Elsewhere, the Straits Times is not trading today due to a holiday. Jakarta Composite and Taiwan are trading in the green, while SET Composite is trading in the red at 9.35 a.m. IST.
