Stock Market LIVE: Sensex & Nifty Trade Lower; All Sectors in the Red

Sensex and Nifty Today Aug 14, 2023: Indian stock market indices opened lower on Monday following the negative global cues. The Nifty index opened lower by 44.35 points at 19383.95 levels, while Sensex also opened lower by 169.63 points at 65153.02 levels. The Bank Nifty made a negative opening of 132.5 points at the 44066.60 level.

Market Live at 9.40 am IST, the Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty are trading lower by 0.63 percent and 0.70 percent respectively. The Bank Nifty is trading lower by 0.81 percent at 9.40 IST. The broader markets are underperforming their larger peers, as the Nifty mid and smallcap indexes are trading sharply lower by 1.01 percent and 1.50 percent respectively.

Among the sectors,  all sectoral indices are trading in the red. The sectors that are dragging the markets are Metal, PSU Bank, and Realty.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are ONGC, Dr. Reddy, Sun Pharma, Infy, and Nestle India and the top losing stocks are Adani Enterprise, Adani Ports, Hindalco, Apollo Hospital, and Eicher Motors.

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are Adani Enterprise, Adani Ports, and HDFC Bank in terms of volume Adani Ports, Tata Steel, and SBI.

Asian stock market indexes are trading lower on Monday following negative cues from Wall Street on Friday and ahead of the crucial economic data from the region later this week. China’s Industrial Production, Retail Sales, and House Price reading are due on Tuesday. Japan will see Q2 GDP growth data on Tuesday and the inflation rate is due on Friday. 

The major Asian stock market indexes are trading in the deep red, Nikkei resumed trading after a long weekend and is trading lower by 1.08 percent. Kospi extended early losses and is also trading lower by almost 1 percent. Shanghai index is trading almost 1 percent lower, while the property index dragged Hang Seng  over 2 percent at 9.15 am IST
