Stock Market LIVE: Indices Trading in the Green, Mid & Small Caps Outperforming

 

Stock Market LIVE Today, 16 November 2023: Indian stock market indexes opened flat on Thursday after a solid rally in the previous session. The domestic markets are down amid negative cues from Asian markets.

The Nifty index today opened flat at the 19674.70 level, while Sensex made a slightly lower opening of 10.06 points at the 65665.87 level. The Bank Nifty index opened slightly higher by 50 points at the 44251.70 level.

 

Stock Market Live Today 

 

Market Live at 9.40 am IST, the Indian stock market indices erased early losses and turned positive, Sensex and Nifty are trading slightly higher by 0.07 percent and 0.09 percent respectively. The Bank Nifty is trading marginally higher by 0.12 percent at 9.40 a.m. IST. The broader markets are outperforming their larger peers, as the Nifty mid and smallcap indexes are trading higher by 0.27 percent and 0.51 percent respectively.

Among the sectors, Media, Energy, and IT are training the most while Metal Financial and PSU Bank are in the red.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are NTPC, BPCL, ONGC, TCS, and Coal India and the top losing stocks are Bajaj Finance, Power Grid, Hindalco, Adani Enterprise, and JSW Steel.

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are Bajaj Finance, HDFC Bank, and TCS, and in terms of volume are ONGC, Power Grid, and HDFC Bank.

 

Asian Stock Market Live Updates Today

 

The other Asian stock market indexes are trading lower on Thursday despite positive cues from the US markets overnight. Investors overlooked the news of a decline in US producer prices in October and digested U.S. President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping’s high-level meeting. 

Japan’s Nikkei extended losses and is trading lower by 0.65%, while Australia’s S&P ASX 200 is down by 0.57%. South Korean Kospi is down by 0.24% after the stock markets opened one hour delayed today. Shanghai and Hang Seng are also trading lower by 0.60% and 1.53% respectively. 

Elsewhere, the Straits Times, Jakarta Composite, Taiwan, and SET Composite are trading in the red at 9 a.m. IST.
