Stock Market Live 18 Nov: Sensex and Nifty are trading lower today, PSU Banks are in focus

 

It was flat to a negative start for the Indian stock market today. The Nifty opened at 12,860.10, down only 14.10 points while Sensex opened at 43978.58 made a negative opening of 25.87 points. The Bank Nifty on the spot level opened at 29107.90 levels made a gap down opening of 73.4 points today.

At 11.35 am IST, the Sensex, and Nifty trading down by 0.22% and 0.28% respectively while the Bank Nifty on the spot levels trading higher by 0.70%.

M&M, Larsen, and Tata Motors are trading as the top gainers in the Nifty index while BPCL, Titan, and Bharti Airtel are trading as the top losers. Bajaj Finance, Reliance, and SBI are trading as the most active stock in NSE at this moment.

On a sectoral front, Infrastructure, Banking & Finance, and Automobiles are trading in the green whereas IT & Software, Oil & Gas, and FMCG are trading in the red at this hour.

Asian markets are trading mixed today. Nikkei and Hang Seng are trading lower by 0.70% and 0.04% whereas Shanghai is trading higher by 0.21%. SGX Nifty is trading flat today, down only 3 points. Indian stock markets are expected to open on a positive note today. 

The US markets fell on Tuesday after touching a record high on Monday due to a surge in coronavirus cases. Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 closed at 0.56% and 0.48% while Nasdaq declined 0.21% on Tuesday, November 17.

European markets closed mixed after touching eight-month highs due to tighter coronavirus- driven restrictions across the continent. The market indices FTSE and DAX closed lower by 0.87% and 0.04% respectively whereas CAC gained 0.21% on 17 November, Tuesday.

Indian markets closed positive on Tuesday. The Nifty and Sensex closed higher by 0.73% and 0.72% on 17 November. FIIs were the buyers and DIIs were the sellers in the cash market segment. FIIs bought Rs 4905.35 crore while DIIs sold Rs 3829.16 crore on Tuesday, 17 November.

Goldman Sachs expects that the Indian gross domestic product (GDP) to contract by 10.3% in the current financial year FY21. In the month of September, it had forecasted a 14.8% contraction in the GDP

The Euro Zone is on the track for its first double-dip recession in nearly a decade, according to a Reuters poll of economists which points to a more muted recovery next year despite expectations for 500 billion euros of additional monetary stimulus as per the report in Moneycontrol.com
