Stock Market live today, 2nd Nov: Markets are trading lower, RIL top loser, ICICI Bank up 4%

 

It was a positive start for the Indian Stock Market today on 2 Nov. The Nifty index opened at 11697.35 levels, up by 54.95 points while Sensex made a gap up opening of 266.31 points and opened at 39880.38 levels. The Bank Nifty on the spot levels opened at 24367.60, up by 466.7 points.

At 10 am IST, the Sensex and Nifty index are trading lower by 0.52% and 0.63% respectively. The Bank Nifty on the spot levels trading higher by 1.19% today.

The top gainers in the Nifty index at this moment are ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank, and Bharti Airtel while the losers are Reliance, HCL Tech, and Divis Lab. The most active stocks in NSE are Reliance, ICICI Bank, and IndusInd Bank.

Reliance trading 4% down today, reacted negatively after the announcement of its second-quarter results. The ICICI Bank trading higher by 4% after the Q2FY21 earnings announced on 31 October.

On a sectoral front, Banking & Finance, Telecom, and Real Estate are trading higher whereas Oil & Gas, IT & Software and Healthcare sectors trading in the red.

 

Stock Markets may open in green, Asian Market cues are positive

Asian markets are mostly trading in the green today. Nikkei and Hang Seng are trading higher by 1.57% and 1.02% respectively while Shanghai is trading flat. SGX is also trading higher by 20 points or 0.17% at this moment. Indian Markets may also start on a positive note as Asian Market cues are positive.

The US markets closed lower on Friday as traders are concerns about the record rise in coronavirus cases and uncertainty in the election. The US market indices Nasdaq and S&P 500 plunged 2.45% and 1.21% respectively while Dow declined 0.59% on Friday, 30 October.

The European markets were closed mixed on Friday after the strong earnings of energy and bank companies helped to cap the downside. The European market indices FTSE and DAX closed lower by 0.08% and 0.36% respectively whereas CAC closed higher by 0.54% on Friday.

Back home in India, the markets were closed lower on Friday. The Nifty and Sensex closed lower by 0.24% and 0.34% respectively. FIIs were the seller and DIIs were the buyer in the cash market segment on Friday. FIIs sold Rs 870.88 crore and DIIs bought Rs 631.11 crores on 30 October.

 

News that may influence the stock market live today

 

Indian Foreign Exchange Reserve increased $5.4 billion and touched an all-time high at $ 560.532 billion in the week ended 23 October. The reserves were at $555.12 billion on the previous week ended 16 October.

The Goods and Service Tax (GST) collections in October 2020 were Rs 1.05 lakh crores. The first time the collection crossed above the 1 lakh crore mark since February 2020.

Reserve Bank of India has informed the Supreme Court (SC) that the banks and non-banking finance companies (NBFCs) will repay the ‘interest on the interest’ amount collected from the borrowers on loans up to Rs 2 Crore during the loan moratorium period by 5 November.

Indian markets will react to the second quarterly results of Reliance Industries and ICICI Bank today.

The Markit Manufacturing PMI number will be announced during the market hours today. The PMI numbers for the previous month surged to 56.8, the highest since January 2012.
