Stock Market live 20 Nov: Nifty and Sensex are trading slightly higher today

 

It was a positive start for the Indian stock markets today. The Nifty opened at 12813.40 levels, up by 41.70 points from the previous close. Sensex made a gap up opening of 132.18 points at 43732.14 levels. Bank Nifty on the spot levels opened at 28935.75 levels, a positive opening of 32.7 points.

At 10 am IST, Nifty and Sensex are trading higher by 0.24% and 0.26% respectively while the Bank Nifty on the spot level is trading 0.17% up.

Titan, Bajaj Finserve, and Nestle are trading as the top gainers in the Nifty index whereas Reliance, UPL, and ONGC are trading as top losers. Reliance, Bajaj Finance, and Bajaj Finserve are trading as the most active stocks in the NSE.

On a sectoral basis, Banking & Finance, Capital Goods, and IT & Software are trading in the green whereas Oil& Gas is the major sector trading in the red at 10 am IST.

Asian markets are mostly trading in the green zone today. Hang Seng and Shanghai are trading 0.29% and 0.08% higher whereas Nikkei is trading 0.65% on the last day of the week. The SGX Nifty is trading 20 points up today. The Indian markets are likely to open in the green as per the indication getting from the Asian peers.

The US markets opened lower on Thursday but recovered their early losses and closed marginally higher in the end. Buying in technology-driven stocks seen in the US markets on Thursday. Dow and S&P 500 closed marginally higher by 0.15% and 0.39% respectively whereas Nasdaq gained 0.87% on Thursday.

European markets closed lower on Thursday as investors feared another round of shutdowns due to increasing coronavirus cases globally. The European market indices FTSE and DAX fell 0.80% and 0.88% respectively while CAC declined 0.67% on Thursday, 19 November.

Indian markets fell sharply on Thursday. The Nifty and Sensex closed lower by 1.29% and 1.31% respectively. FIIs were the buyers and DIIs were sellers in the cash market segment on Thursday. FIIs bought Rs 1180.61 crore whereas DIIs sold Rs 2854.94 crore on 19 November.

The news that may impact the stock market live today

 

The rating agency ICRA on Thursday said that India’s GDP is estimated to have contracted to 9.5% in the September quarter from 23.9% in Q1FY21. A substantial recovery is already seen in the construction and manufacturing sectors after relaxation in lockdown.

According to SEBI data, Investment through participatory notes (p-notes) in the Indian equity market increased to Rs 78686 crore at October end. This is the highest level in the last 14 months and it is due to global liquidity and measures taken by the Indian government.

The US jobless claims rose last week to 7,42,000 compared to 711,000 in the previous week, as the Labor Department’s report showed on Thursday.  The increase in unemployment is due to the second wave of coronavirus which forcing companies to cut jobs again.
