Stock Market Live Today: Sensex below 61K, Nifty near 18100

 

Stock Market Live today 22 December 2022: Indian stock market indexes opened higher on Thursday following positive cues from Wall Street overnight and Asian markets. Nifty opened at 18288.80 levels up by 89.7 points while Sensex made a positive opening of 189.93 points at 61257.17 levels. 

Other than the positive global cues market sentiments were positive in the early deal as former Niti Aayog vice chairman Arvind Panagariya said the Indian economy is likely to grow at over 7 percent in the current fiscal year. Soon after opening, the markets turned into the red and are trading volatile as investors watched the evolving COVID-19 situation in the country.

Investors are concerned after a sudden rise in positive cases in countries such as the U.S., Japan, Korea, Brazil, and China. India PMO is to hold a meeting today with top Health Ministry Officials to review and discuss the rising Covid-19 new variant cases in neighboring countries.

 

Indian Stock Market Live Today 

 

Market Live At 12 pm IST:  the Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty are trading lower by 0.55 percent and 0.63 percent respectively. The Bank Nifty is down by 0.72 percent at 12 pm IST. The broader markets have underperformed the benchmark, as Nifty midcap and smallcap indexes are trading lower by 1.48 percent and 2.17 respectively at this time.

Among the sectors, all sectoral indices are trading lower at this time. The sectors that are trading in the deep cuts are Nifty PSU Bank, Metals, and Realty. The top gainers in the Nifty 50 index are Infosys, Sun Pharma, and Bharti Airtel, and the top losers at this time are Tata Motors, BPCL, and Tata Steel.

 

Stocks in News Today

 

Tata Communications (Netherlands) B.V., a wholly-owned indirect subsidiary of Tata Communications, will acquire a 100 %  equity stake in Switch Enterprises, the company informed in an exchange filing today. The share price of  Tata Communication is trading 0.62% lower at Rs 1263 per share on NSE

Ajanta Pharma gains after block deal of 21.9 lakh shares which is 1.7% of equity. The share price of Ajanta Pharma is trading higher by 3.59%  at Rs 1213 per share on NSE.

Sula Vineyards made a flat stock market debut on December 22. The share price of Sula is trading lower by over 4% on NSE at Rs 341 a piece
