Stock Market LIVE Today: Sensex & Nifty Trade Flat, Broader Markets Outperform

 

Stock Market LIVE Today, 31 October 2023: Indian stock market indexes opened higher on Tuesday tracking a solid rally from Wall Street overnight. The domestic markets erased most of their early gains and trading almost flat at this moment.

Nifty today opened higher by 92.05 points at the 19232.95 level, while Sensex made a positive opening of 337 points at the 64449.65 level. The Bank Nifty index also opened higher by 317.7 points at the 43356.85 level.

Market Live at 9.50 am IST, the Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty are trading slightly lower by 0.11 percent and 0.10 percent respectively. The Bank Nifty is trading edge higher by 0.06 percent at 9.50 a.m. IST. The broader markets are outperforming their larger peers, as the Nifty mid and smallcap indexes are trading higher by 0.68 percent and 0.48 percent respectively.

Among the sectors, barring IT all sectoral indices are trading in the green. The leading sectors are Realty, PSU Bank, and Media.

The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index are BPCL, Dr. Reddy, SBI Life, Asian Paints, and Tata Motors and the top losing stocks are ONGC, Britannia, LTIM, JSW Steel, and Coal India.

The most active stocks in NSE in terms of value are HDFC Bank, Reliance, and Tata Motors, and in terms of volume are Tata Steel, Tata Motors, and HDFC Bank.

 

Asian Stock Market Live Updates Today

 

The other Asian stock market indexes are trading mixed on Tuesday, as the Bank of Japan in its monetary policy meeting on Tuesday decided to allow more flexibility in its yield curve control policy while maintaining large-scale monetary easing.  

Nikkei erased early losses and is trading higher by 0.71%, while Australia’s S&P ASX 200 is trading slightly higher by 0.18%.

South Korea’s Kospi is trading lower by 1.17%. The Shanghai index extended its early losses and is trading lower by 0.38% as China’s manufacturing PMI contracts to 49.5 in September from 50.2 expected. Hang Seng also extended early losses and trading lower by 1.95 percent.

Elsewhere, the Straits Times is trading slightly higher while, SET Composite, Jakarta Composite, and Taiwan are trading in the red at 9.20 am IST.
