Stock Market Live: Indices are trading flat ahead of monthly F&O expiry
Stock Market Live Updates Today 23 Feb 2023: Indian stock markets opened marginally higher on Thursday amid mixed global cues. The Nifty index opened at 17574.65 levels up by only 20.35 points while Sensex made a slightly higher opening of 32.66 points at 59777.64 levels. Soon after opening the domestic markets turned negative and are trading near their neutral lines.
The domestic market volatility will remain in today’s trade ahead of the monthly F&O expiry. The sentiment was dented in the morning deal due to the foreign fund outflows, as foreign institutional investors (FII) sold shares worth Rs 579.82 crore on February 22, as per the NSE’s provisional data showed.
Adding more pessimism, the latest Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade data showed that foreign direct investment (FDI) into India declined by 15 percent to $36.75 billion during the April-December this fiscal.

Market Live at 12 pm IST, the Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty are trading marginally higher by 0.14 percent and 0.15 percent respectively. The Bank Nifty is down by 0.25 percent at 12 pm IST. The broader markets are trading marginally lower now, as Nifty midcap and smallcap indexes are trading lower by 0.31 percent and 0.01 respectively.
Among the sectors, Nifty FMCG, Metals, and IT are trading higher whereas Media, Realty, and Financial Services are trading in the red. The top-gaining stocks in the Nifty 50 index at this moment are ITC, Coal India, and UPL while the losers at this moment are Asian Paints, IndusInd Bank, and Titan Company.

The share price of Orient Cement fell in the early trade on February 23 after Adani Power Maharashtra (APML) terminated a non-binding deal with it. The share price of Orient Cement is trading higher by 0.85% at Rs 118.35 per share.
The share price of Sonata Software North America Inc,(SSNA) a wholly owned subsidiary of Sonata Software has signed a definitive agreement to purchase Quant Systems Inc. a Texas-based IT services corporation, is an enterprise data analytics and cloud modernization service provider. The share price of Sonata Software is trading higher by 3.69% at Rs 715.75 per share
The share price of Lemon Tree is trading higher by 1.43% at Rs 74.40 per share after the company announced that it has signed a license agreement for a 47-room property in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh under the company’s brand ‘Lemon Tree Hotel’ The property is expected to be operational by December 2023.
Tata Steel acquires 4.68 lakh shares of Rs 10 each at a premium of rs 54 per share of Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd (NINL) an unlisted subsidiary of the company for Rs 300 crore on 21 February 2023. The share price of Tata Steel is trading higher by 1.26% at Rs 112.55 per share
