Stock Market Today: Nifty end below 17800; Sensex down 251 pts
Stock Market Today- 13 Feb 2023: Indian stock market indexes traded below their neutral lines throughout the day ahead of the January Inflation reading, which is due later in the day.
The Nifty 50 index closed lower by 85.60 points or 0.48 percent and closed at 17770.90 levels while the Sensex was down by 250.86 points or 0.41 percent and finished at 60431.84 levels. The Bank Nifty index ended in the red, down by 277.20 points or 0.67% on the spot level, and closed at 41282.20 levels
The broader markets underperformed the frontline index today, as the Nifty midcap index was down by 464.10 points or 1.50 percent and closed at 30565.35 levels. The Nifty smallcap index closed lower by 138.35 points or 1.45 percent at 9388.05 levels.
Stock Market Today- top gainers & losers
The top gainers in the Nifty 50 index were Titan, Larsen, NTPC, Bajaj Auto, and Eicher Motors and the top losers were Adani Enter, Adani Ports, SBI, Infosys, and TCS.
The top gainers in the Nifty midcap index were Oil India, Tata Tele Services, and NALCO and the top losers were Balkrishna Ind, Lupin, and Coforge Ltd.
The smallcap top gainers were Sun Pharma Adv, Welspun India, and Lux Industries while the top losers were IDFC, Godfrey Philip, and Blue dart
The most active stocks in the Nifty index in terms of value were Adani Enter, Adani Ports, and Reliance The most active stocks in terms of volume were Tata Steel, Adani Ports, and SBI
On the sectoral front, barring FMCG all other sectoral indices closed in the red today. The sectors that closed in the deep red were PSU Bank, Media, IT, Realty, and Metals

Asian markets mostly closed in the red on Monday as investors were cautious ahead of the US inflation, which is expected on Tuesday and will give a likely path of interest rates. European stock markets are trading marginally higher on Monday despite a downbeat session in Asia, as investors eye on the US inflation data later this week.
