Top Gainers and Losers in NSE- Weekly Analysis
Top Gainers and Losers in NSE- Weekly Analysis (28 Feb – 4 March): The Indian equity market closed in the red for the week ended 4 March. Markets witnessed high volatility due to the geopolitical tension. The volatility index ‘India VIX’ gained consecutively for the second week at 3.93% and closed at 27.96 levels. Investors now fear a spike in inflation due to multi-year high crude oil and other commodity prices.
The continued escalation of the Russia-Ukraine war, failure of peace talks, a spike in crude oil and other commodity prices, continuous selling pressure from FIIs were dampened Indian market sentiments. However, the downside remained capped in Indian markets as manufacturing and service activities for the month of February have been improved as per PMI data due to the openness of the business after the easing of covid restriction.
