Top Gainers and Losers in NSE- Weekly Analysis (14 – 17 March): Indian equity markets continued their upward journey for the second consecutive week ended 17 March. On Friday, 18 March, Indian stock markets were closed on account of the Holi festival. The Indian benchmark indices gained almost 4 percent during the truncated week. The domestic markets gained with the support of strong global market cues during the week.
The ease in international crude oil prices and hopes of diplomatic solution through peace talks between Russia-Ukraine to end the war weighed the market sentiments in the early week. The investor’s confidence grew after US Fed’s interest rate hike, as widely expected has further improved the market sentiments. FIIs inflow in the cash segment at the end of the week also encouraged the local equity market investors.
The upside remained capped due to the marginal rise in the country’s inflation rate and surge in fresh covid cases in China. However, the Chinese government’s pledge for a stimulus package for economic growth has later motivated investors.
