Trade Set Up for Tuesday, 11 Jan 2022- Top things to know before market opening today

 

Good morning and welcome to the stock market morning report- Trade set up for Tuesday, 11 Jan 2022

The Asian markets are trading mostly in the red today tracking the negative cues from Wall Street and Europe. Nikkei and Hang Seng are trading lower by 0.87 percent and 0.08 percent respectively while Shanghai is trading 0.08 percent higher. SGX Nifty is down 57.50 points or 0.32 percent and trading at 17990 levels. The indication getting from the Asain markets is negative today, Indian markets are likely to open in a cautious mode today.

The US key benchmark indexes closed in the negative on Monday. Nasdaq erased early losses and closed flat to the positive due to heavy buying seen in the beaten-down IT stocks. The government bond yield rose ahead of the inflation data on Monday. Dow Jones and S&P500 closed lower by 0.45 percent and 0.14 percent respectively while Nasdaq gained 0.05 percent on the first day of the week

European markets slipped on Monday and extended their losses for the third trading session. The rise in inflation sparked worries about more rate hikes and a spike in new covid variant added to economic uncertainty. European market indexes, CAC and DAX declined 1.44 percent and 1.13 percent respectively while FTSE was down by 0.53 percent on Monday.

Indian stock market gained more than one percent on Monday. The key equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty gained 1.09 percent and 1.07 percent respectively. FIIs were the sellers and DIIs were buyers in the cash market segment. FIIs sold Rs 124.23 crore while DIIs bought Rs 481.55 crore on 10 January.

On Monday, the Labour Ministry showed that according to the quarterly employment survey for the second quarter of FY22, 31.0 million jobs were created in the country, this was as compared to 30.8 million in the April-June quarter of 2021.
