Trade setup for Friday– Good morning and welcome to the morning reports, the top things to know before the stock market opens today April 22, 2022

Asian markets are trading in the red on Friday tracking the negative cues from Wall Street overnight. Nikkei and Hang Seng are trading lower by 1.85 percent and 1.64 percent respectively while Shanghai is trading lower by 0.60 percent. The SGX Nifty is also trading lower by 210 points or 1.21 percent at 17197 levels. 

The Asian markets are negative due to overnight hawkish comments from the Chairman of the Federal Reserve regarding the tightening of US monetary policy. As per the indication getting from SGX Nifty, Indian stock market indexes are expected to open a gap-down today. 

 

The US and European market Indexes update

 

The US market indexes erased their early gains and closed lower on Thursday as bond yields rise as Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell indicated an aggressive rate hike to curb inflation. The decline in technology stocks drags the major indexes on Thursday. The US market indexes, Dow Jones and S&P 500 fell 1.05 percent and 1.48 percent respectively while the tech-heavy Nasdaq was down by 2.07 percent on Thursday.

European market indexes closed mostly in the green on Thursday. FTSE closed slightly down by 0.02 percent as investors eyed key speeches from the US central bank officials. France’s CAC closed higher by 1.36 percent due to the gains in Oil & Gas and Utility sectors. Germany’s market index DAX was up by 0.98 percent as buying was witnessed in the Industrial, Food & beverage, transportation, and logistic sectors on Thursday

Indian stock market updates

 

Indian stock markets closed higher for the second consecutive day amid positive global cues. The benchmarked indices, Sensex and Nifty gained 1.53 percent and 1.49 percent respectively. The market breadth was strong with the advance-decline indicating a ratio of almost 4:1 at the close. FIIs were the sellers and DIIs were the buyers in the equity cash segment. FIIs sold Rs 713.69 crore while DIIs bought Rs 2823.43 crore in the cash segment on Thursday.

Top news before the trade setup for Friday, April 22, 2022

 

According to Crisil Ratings on Thursday, the central government fertilizer subsidy is going to touch an all-time high of Rs 1.65 lakh crore in the current fiscal as against Rs 1.05 lakh crore budget. This is due to the unexpected rise in the cost of raw materials and prices of fertilizers globally.

According to the Labor Department, the number of Americans filing the new claims for unemployment benefits fell slightly lower by 2000 to 184000 over the week ended 16 April.
